{365 Days}: Week 1

As you know, I started the 365 Days project with Madeline Bea photography on Wednesday.  Which means that I'm 4 days in.  But since Wednesdays are hump days, I thought it might be fun to share my week's worth of pictures every Wednesday!  I'm officially loading my photos each day on my Flickr account, but by posting them onto my blog, family and friends who might want to see what I'm up to, but aren't checking Flickr can still see what I've been working on!
To start off, I want to just say that also with this undertaking comes some more exciting news....I'm taking my first official real-life photography course this semester!  While I've always enjoyed taking pictures, I really started picking it up as a real hobby over the course of the last year or so.  Then, after dropping Spanish 201 this semester, I went and got myself enrolled in "Intro to Photographic Media" at an art college over in Beverly, MA.  I had my first class today and let me just say...I'm so excited!  We're shooting in B&W film for the first half of the semester, doing our own darkroom processing, and then switching over to digital and learning the ins and outs of Photoshop with that!  I'm so excited to be able to learn all the basics of technique and all of that, because, while I feel like I've begun developing my eye pretty well, I certainly have a long way to go, and I don't even know half of what my camera can do!  (Plus, I got to buy a great Nikon F80/N80 and I can't wait for it to get here and to start playing and learning about that!)

So....here are a few things that I hope to gain/learn from the 365 project and this course:
1.  I NEED to get my camera off my auto setting and start shooting in manual.  NEED.
2.  I want to continue to develop my eye, and work on always looking for interesting shots and "looking through my lens."
3.  I want to begin to develop a sense of purpose in my photography.  I want a viewer to be able to look at my photos and know the story behind my subject.
4.  I want to understand and be fluent with technical terminology.  Things like aperture and f-stop.  :)
5.  I want to never lose my love of this hobby.  I've had a lot of hobbies over the years, but I really think this is one that could last.

And last but not least....here are the photos from the week!
