teaser!

Here are just a few of the shots taken by the amazing Peter Morse for our apartment photo shoot!  More to come soon, but enjoy these for now!  (And if you're in the Boston area, hire this man!)
In front of our home.
Roomie love.  Inspired by engagement shoots everywhere.
I love these girls.

Animals.

I found this little contest over at Photo Freak, and seeing as I'm so into posting my photography lately, and considering the fun I've had participating in The Sunday Creative and {365}, I thought, why not?
So here goes!

Nothing.

"Nothing" is a big prompt, but I'd like to say thanks to Maegan over at The Sunday Creative for giving us the freedom to play with a word that leaves so much to the imagination.  Which is why I chose this image.  I think it leaves a lot to the imagination.  What is behind the door?  Maybe nothing.  Maybe something great.  Where does it lead?  This building is known for having dead-ends, it was never finished, so maybe it leads nowhere.  Who can say?

And I just happen to like this one.  Cause in my opinion, NOTHING beats a fall afternoon walk in the woods!

Oh, and if you didn't take some of my suggestions from yesterday about blog-hopping, that's quite alright, but I do highly recommend checking out Cassie's blog, cause she just remodeled and it's BEAUTIFUL, and personally, I just like to support a sista!

If you feel like blog-hopping on a Saturday...

Here are a few that I love!

1.  My good friend Jen is spending the year studying
at Oxford and blogging about her adventures along
the way.  (And, by the way, she's an amazing
story-teller.  And don't just take my word for it, go
see for yourself!)

2.  Mim Smith Faro blogs about the lovely little things she finds, from books to music to great giveaways and the like, its a fun little blog!

3.  One of my dearest friends, Sarah Lipe, has
a blog about the everyday...read her latest post
on how she discovered a beautiful science
building on the way to class, or read her archives
of her time spent in Uganda!

4.  My friend Cassie, over at Life in Technicolor,
blogs about, well, life.  She spent last semester in
Australia, and has many a fun story from those
days, as well as little anecdotes and things from
current life.

5.  If you're like me (who, by the way, is nowhere near getting married) and just like to look at lovely wedding things, check out Green Wedding Shoes or OnceWed, if only for their aesthetically pleasing natures.

6.  Check out Naomi over at The Rockstar Diaries for
tales of her life with her husband, Josh, and dog,
Kinsley (and baby on the way!).

7.  PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE
read Confessions of a Pioneer Woman.
She will crack you up forever.
And her cookbook is awesome.

8.  For a couple of fun projects (the {365}
project and the Sunday Creative) and for
soft, glowy, wonderful photography, head
on over to Life Set to Words by Madeline Bea.

And I think that's all I have for now.  Got any good ones to share?

{365 Days}: Week 4 and an event

If you're in the Reading, PA area, or really in eastern PA...I mean, really, you can drive anywhere on the eastern side of the state in about 3 hours, and this is worth it.  TRUST ME.  :)
Then go see JAYMAR at the Carsonia Park carnival TOMORROW night!
And be sure to support the PIER food stand, as proceeds are benefitting my brother and cousin's upcoming trip to Namibia!

And now, here are my week 4 shots!  I'm feeling a little bit better about myself and my photography this week.  Probably because of my new site!

announcing....

It's nothing terribly complicated, but for now, it'll do!
(and I'm kind of really proud of it)

Abundance.

This week's post on The Sunday Creative is "abundance".  I so badly wanted to make my interpretation deep and talk about an abundance of love, or friendship, or something a bit more lasting than food, but then I remembered these photos, taken at a farm stand towards the end of summer, and my mouth started to water a little bit.
Yum, right?

the apt.

Bromley 310 (my apartment) had a little photo shoot today with the talented Peter Morse.
We got all gussied up and had our picture taken for a while, and had a ton of fun in the process!
I'll be getting the images this week, so I'll be sure to share them with you, but in the meantime, I thought I'd introduce you to the women I live with!

This is Lacy.  She's not only gorgeous, but she's an amazing, talented, woman of God, and she's also a great friend.
This is Hannah.  She and I are still getting to know one another, but I love her dearly!  She's smart and so much fun to be around.
This is Jae.  I was lucky enough to share a house with her last fall, and am so happy to be living together again!  She's such a fun, beautiful girl!
This is Nicole.  She was one of the first people I ever met at Gordon, and we were bio majors together for a while.  She's got the most infectious laugh out of anyone I know!
This is Emily.  She's my roommate, one of my dearest and most beautiful friends.  We have a lot of fun together, and I'm so blessed to be living with her again this year.

Hope your weekend is going well!

{365 Days}: Week 3 (and a rant.)

Feel free to skip the rant and just check out this week's images below, because:
1.  I won't know if you do
2.  I wouldn't blame you.

I'm a bit frustrated with this project right now.  I know it's only the third week, and I am enjoying it.  But I think the combination of classes, work, and having a photography class, has turned this project into another thing to check off my daily "to-do" list.  I think a lot of it has to do that I haven't been feeling very inspired lately, and that my camera and I just aren't really working together very well at the moment...my images are blurry and not in the sharp focus that I like, which I know has a lot to do with my lighting and the time of day that I've typically been shooting.  My eyes are tired from squinting through my lens (does anyone know any tricks to combat this, by the way?  Sometimes, it takes a second for my eyes to refocus after I've been looking through my camera, and I've had this annoying eye twitch since about May.)  Anyway, I'm not totally unhappy with what I've got for this week, but I am quickly finding that if this project is going to be a positive and growth-filled experience, then I need to make more time for photography in my day to day.  So here's to revelation and growth.  :)

September 9:  My pencil cup (one of those late-night images)
September 10:  Self-portrait (too grainy. bleh.)
September 11:  Hava.  I love this one, especially the color composition.
September 12:  My tea.  Again, a late-night image, and a grainy one.
September 13:  Jae's earrings.  A rare in-focus one.
September 14:  The new pillow covers I made.  A "hmmm...what can I take a picture of at this late hour?" photo.
September 15: Hannah's study face.  Despite the lack of sharp focus, I like this one, I think.

On the bright side, I did develop my first prints in the darkroom today.  That is definitely a highlight of my life according to photography right now.

Comfort.

This week's prompt on The Sunday Creative is "comfort".  When I think of what comforts me, it is definitely my family and friends.  People who are always there when you need them.  People who will love you no matter what.  People who support and protect you.  People like this:
