Camp

Tomorrow, (well, technically, today) I'm off to camp to counsel for the week.  This particular camp, Tel-Hai in Honeybrook, PA, holds a special place in my heart.  It's one of the places that I can honestly say I've felt God move in a mighty and powerful way.  I'm emotionally and physically tired, and while I'm SO ready to pour into my campers, I'm also beyond excited to spend some time with God this week.
We have an awesome staff, and I can't wait to get there tomorrow to fellowship with them and spend some time before the kiddos get there on Monday.
If you get some time, will you pray for us to be seeking the Lord this week?  Pray that God will reveal Himself and move in the lives of the campers and staff.
I've got some fun posts planned upon my return, so I'll see you then!
Thanks and have a great week!

Oh, the joys of being 6

This is on a magnet in my friend, Emily's, apartment.  I think its great.  And who wouldn't want to be a ballerina gymnast veterinarian horseback-riding princess?  This girl has the right idea.

To my Papa...

Happy Father's Day!
You're the best dad a girl could ask for!
We spent the day going to church & hanging out at home, then ended it with a nice cookout (shrimp, steak & veggie kabobs, corn on the cob, & ice cream cake!).  It was a good one.
How did you celebrate the guys in your life today?

A list

Life has been a little bit topsy-turvy lately, and not in a good way.
But, that's the way life is, isn't it?  Sometimes you have to trudge through the not-so-good parts in order to be thankful and recognize the good ones for what they are.
So, I find myself in one of those funks where I'm restless and aching to do something spontaneous, or shake things up, and in order to put those desires into words, I give you....
a wish list of things that are on my mind at the moment.

1.  I want to do some traveling.  I don't really care where, preferably somewhere new.
2.  I'd love a new camera.  I've outgrown mine.  I have my eye on a Nikon D-7000.  I'd also love a 50mm lens.  They produce such pretty images.
3.  If I could drive any car, it would be a VW Jetta.  I've always loved VW's, and I probably always will.
4.  I want an apartment of my own.  I like living at home, and it certainly is fiscally responsible, but I miss having the freedom & grown-up feeling that living on your own provides.
5.  I want my nose pierced.
6.  I want to spend a day in NYC, or DC, or any city, really.  Going to outdoor markets, spending a day lounging in a park...doesn't it sound perfect?
7.  I want a feather extension.  Don't know what that is?  Check 'em out here!
8.  I want to make a difference.  I want to be a part of something bigger than myself, some project or cause that matters.
9.  I want to be challenged.  I was hoping grad school could fill this void.  Maybe it's just the fact that it's summer, but I don't feel like I'm learning very much in my class right now.  I want heated debates about the state of education!  I want rousing articles and thought-provoking lectures!  Instead, I've learned that Descartes struggled with poor health and influenced modern-day education.
10.  I want an adventure.

Thanks for listening to me rant and ramble.
What's on your wish list at the moment?

Homework.

I'm supposed to be working on my first paper for my grad class right now.  I'm sitting at my kitchen table with a notebook, two articles, a packet with all the information one could ever need on what to put into a 4-6 page paper, my textbook, a highlighter, and a pen.  And what am I doing?  Blogging.  (And popping around Facebook. and picking out a new pair of TOMS. and texting. and thinking of a dessert to bake for a party I'm going to today.)  Because it wouldn't be homework if I didn't exhaust every procrastination option out there before I actually buckled down and pounded out the darn thing.  See, when I actually get to writing it, this paper will probably only take me about an hour.  But the entire process will likely take all morning, because I have no self discipline when it comes to homework.  Somehow, I managed to make it through college with this fatal flaw, and while I'd love to say "it'll be different this time around", I think I'd be lying.  Really, you'd think that I hate school.  But in fact, I love it.  I'm just not good at showing it.  Oh well, here we go again!
I also made myself coffee this morning.  I SO feel like a student again!  (And I LOVE it!)
