And the burger hunt continues...

Last week, AJ & I resumed burger night (we had taken a hiatus because of me being away and having VBS at church).

And we resumed with....

Elevation Burger!

Elevation Burger brags all-organic ingredients, and it was really good!

While it didn't quite get the top rating from us yet (oh yes, we have a scoring system and everything), I would definitely go again! 

We're still on the hunt for the best burger around. 

(and we're open to suggestions)

Happy 5 months!

Pardon me, but I'm gonna be that girl.

The girl who says "happy 5 months!" to her boyfriend on her blog.

Even though it was Saturday.  I know, I know, I'm a little late.  

But I can honestly say the past 5 months have been the best ever.  

I don't mean to brag...but I'm just a little bit lucky.

Scratch that.  I'm a lot lucky.  

Because I'm dating my best friend.  

And it's only been 5 months, but I can't quite remember not having him in my life.

VBS.

My church is big.  

Like, the biggest in my area.

And every summer, we bring a little magic to church called VBS (Vacation Bible School)....we have over 1,000 kids come, over 500 volunteers help to make it happen...there's a drama team, carnival rides, moon bounces, obstacle courses...it's just a whole big blast.  This year, our theme was "Geek is the new cool" and that meant that tons of people were all over church wearing geeky clothing and geek glasses.
AJ played drums on the worship team and I taught Life Application for roughly 80 5-year-olds and Kindergarteners each night.  We're also both on staff with church, so that meant 12-14 hour days all week.

It was a busy week, we're exhausted (especially after spending Friday at an amusement park and then yesterday at a wedding), but it was probably one of the most fun weeks of the summer so far.

Musings from the DR

I've been back for just over a week.  

(It feels so much longer than that.)

The trip itself was good.  If I had to sum it up in one word, I would say "hot".

Mostly because it was constantly in the 90s and the only way to escape the heat was to take a few showers each day. 

But there was so much more to the DR than just the heat.  The landscape, the people, the food, the way God is moving in His church there...it all adds to the beauty that is the Dominican Republic. 

I don't necessarily feel the need to unpack this trip the way I did with Africa.  It was a different experience, being on the leadership side, mentoring students who were experiencing a third-world country for the first time.
