Black Maxi Dress (and Proof Once Again that I'm NOT a Fashion Blogger)

for realz, people.  serious fashion bloggers don't just decide willy-nilly to do a post and then take four photos on their iphone (self timer for the win!) while they're sitting in their office.  they plan on taking photos ahead of time and they have someone with a fancy (i.e. real) camera take a great photo of them in some brick-lined cobblestone alleyway, right?

which is why my outfit posts are few and far between.  but this outfit was just so comfy and wonderful (seriously, maxi dresses are my new obsession), that i wanted to share.  it was one of those outfits that made me feel good, you know?  coincidentally, the last fashion post i think i did also featured my jean jacket…can you tell what's a favorite wardrobe staple for me?
note to self:  plan outfit posts better.  or don't try to be a fashion blogger.  eh, who am i kidding?

oh, and make sure you enter my giveaway to win $50 to beyondtherack.com so you can get a black maxi dress and do an awkward outfit post like me!!

  12. Maxi dresses...the epitome of comfort and style. It's a win/win. You look great. If I attempted a fashion blog picture I'd look so clueless as I gazed off into the distance. Nobody would take me seriously!!

  14. I didn't know there were rules to fashion blogging. Rules are made to be broken, you look amazing in that dress.

  15. What?! iPhones have a self-timer?! My mind is blown. I desperately need two dresses for Europe: one black (long for the Vatican and other more conservative spots), the other print (shorter to feel the summer breeze) :) That maxi you're wearing looks like a great possibility! Is it cool enough for hot summer days?

  17. I think I could use a few more solid tank tops (dressier material) to pair with my skirts!

  18. I LOVE maxi dresses! They are so comfy! Now if I could only grow a couple more inches past 4'10" then I would be set to rock them!

  19. Love this post! As much as I would like to prance around in cute outfits and model in front of a good camera, I'm SO not a fashion blogger. You do it much better than I ever would!

  28. awe, see, i'm only 5'4" and i always thought i was too short…i guess i just had to find the right ones!

    ReplyDelete
  29. amen! it makes it easier to wear to work, and makes it a little more interesting! :)

  30. well technically no. i used the "TimerCam" app…but still..life changing! and a must for your europe trip i think! also, yes! do go for a maxi…they are definitely warmer than a knee-length dress, but the ones i have are super airy and the material is like a light jersey so it isn't bad. also, i was in germany throughout the entire month of june and wore jeans most of the month. maybe they just had a cold summer that year, but it wasn't always as warm as it is here…anyway, loft had a few really cute maxis! the one i wore to robicole's wedding was from there…and it was on clearance :)

  31. haha i guess there aren't "rules" so much as there are just people who actually plan ahead and do it well! haha but thanks!
