I Heart Succulents

if you've stopped by heavens to betsy in the past or follow me on pinterest, you may know that i love succulents.

i just find these plants to be so pretty, simple, and a great way to bring life to a room!  last summer, i created my own little succulent gardens in tea tins, and this summer, i worked on propagating those succulents.

my little collection has grown over the past year, and they just bring me so much joy!  some of my plants are still pretty leggy, so more propagating is definitely in the works, but i still love them just the same!

do you have any plants that you love?  do you have a green thumb or do you struggle to keep plants alive?

  1. Bets! How do you take care of your succulents? I bought one for my dorm room and I think I'm definitely killing it. I need some help!

  5. I love your collection and the tins you've used as pots are so perfect. I would have more plants in the house if Cleo didn't chew on them ;) (Also, I tend to kill most of mine. I have 2 that I've kept alive and treat them like pets- if I leave for the weekend, I take them with so I can make sure they're watered. haha!!)

  8. don't overwater it and give it lots of sunlight! i probably water mine only 1-2 times per week...just enough to get the soil wet, and then only when it seems really dry! that's probably the biggest advice i have. i think most succulents die because they're overwatered and suck up too much moisture and rot :(
    you can do it!!

  12. oh no! i always tell people not to overwater them...they like to be thirsty! i had a few that died right away last summer when i planted all of these, but the rest seem to be doing well!

  13. haha well these are perfect ones to leave home (and away from cleo!)...they like to be thirsty and can totally handle being left alone in a sunny spot all weekend...or all week! :)

  16. I'm having troubles with mine! D: I'm not sure if I'm over/under watering them...or if they just aren't getting enough sunlight!! Augh! I do love succulents though, so pretty and cute!

  18. Loving all of these! I love succulents, but even though they don't require a ton of attention, I'm worried they won't last. Green thumb I have not - but I'll continue to look at your pretty pictures and these fantastic containers :)

    Any tips??

  19. They look so lovely! I just got two plants the other day, so we'll see if I have a green thumb or not very soon! Love the old tea cans.

  22. I love plants. We now have (among others) mimosa pudica ('kruidje-roer-me-niet' in don't-touch-me-herb) and this is a beautifull plant and the kids love it too because it reacts when touched. And as an experiment we now have a fig. It looks really beautifull, I hope it will last.

  23. I love your succulents. Unfortunately, I was not blessed with a green thumb and have killed pretty much every plant I've ever owned.

Other than fresh cut flowers, succulents are the only plants that I can keep alive. I killed my herb garden, forgot about the plants on the front porch, and overwater my indoor flower pot. Eventually I just gave up even though I love the look of plants. I do have a mini cactus garden but I need some more succulents to make my house feel more homey! I love all of your containers!
