HTB Happenings

happy february, friends!  i am happy to be welcoming in this month, and excited about looking forward to what's to come and the fact that spring is creeping closer by the day (i say that, of course, while we're expecting a few inches of snow tonight!)

here's what you might have missed this week on heavens to betsy:

happenings:
+ thursday was a bit of a stressful day with school and a dentist appointment, so when it was all over, i treated myself to a manicure!
+ i hit the gym a few times this week...today after church i biked 25 miles and then did a ton of ab and arm stuff...starting to see changes in my body and i love it!
+ finally finished and ordered a piece that i've been working on for months.  it's always cool to hold a design project that you worked on in your hands!
+ i went dress shopping on friday (and yes, i bought a dress!)....what a fun time this whole process is...so glad to have my mom by my side through it!

in case you missed it:
+ have you started to think about filing your taxes?  i worked on mine this week and turbotax got me a great refund!
+ aj took over the blog in our first ever guys behind the blog link-up!  it was so much fun (and it's still open if you want to join in!)
+ the proposal story went live this week!  if you've been waiting for it, you can find it here.
+ if you're ever in the southeastern pa area, here are nine of my favorite places to eat!
+ i started the week with a little grateful list, and a giveaway!

don't miss these:
+ i can't get over how great laura looks in this customized magenta dress!
+ beth has a great vday gift guide for the guy in your life!
+ this pie crust looks heavenly!
+ i love cassie's tips for making fitness a priority!
+ daisy's collard greens salad looks tasty!

  2. Thanks friend! Larabars are so good! I'm proud to say that after 16 days on Whole30, I've managed to only have 4 of them....love the Cherry and Apple Pie ones!

  3. thanks! i'm amazed how my cravings are gone. I did it because I knew I needed to break my addiction to sugar, and I really think it's working! I definitely want to keep eating this way after my 30 days are over, but I also want to be able to indulge from time to time....this is one of the most exciting seasons of my life, after all! haha...but in all honesty, it feels so good to really know that i'm putting good, whole foods into my body, and i can't wait to weigh and measure myself at the end of it and see my results!

  4. We totally do indulge but you change the way you do. It is ALL in moderation. I am confident you can do it.

  5. haha well that's encouraging! aj's doing paleo (he's down 12lbs already), and he likes it because he likes pretty much everything he can eat. and i like it because it cuts out all of the foods that really make me gain weight and bloat up!

  6. I am so glad you are doing that. Bruce and I both got to healthy weights when we did the Whole 30 and have since maintained the weight. It totally changed the way that we eat and think about food. We are not strictly paleo but most meals I make are! It was one of the best things we ever did. Stay strong and keep it up!

  9. Oh gosh, no worries at all! I appreciate the encouragement...like I said, that fb group was getting a little nasty today, and it was making me feel overwhelmed and a little turned off (and I wasn't even a part of the conversation, I was just reading it!) Just needed to take some time to refocus and be positive! :)

  13. Thanks! My gym has a cycling studio and it's open when there aren't classes in it, so I love going in and propping up my iPad and watching Netflix while I spin! Makes the hour go by fast :)
