5 Beauty Routines for Every Bride

with just under six months to go until we tie the knot, our wedding planning is well underway, in more ways than one!  of course, some of our first tasks that we checked off our to-do list were things like finding a venue, a caterer, and a dress.  but when you're just a few months away from your wedding, there's so much to think about, that it can be easy to forget some simple beauty routines that can help you prep for your big day!

once you're engaged, you'll of course have a ton of people asking to see your ring (and therefore, your hand), and you'll be having pictures taken throughout the planning process (at an engagement shoot, at your bridal shower & bachelorette parties, and of course at the wedding!), that you definitely will want to be looking your best as the wedding gets closer!  from getting your teeth to their pearly-white best to getting your hair and nails in tip-top shape, there are a few things to keep in mind as you approach your wedding.  so here are five beauty routines that you can start from the moment he pops the question!

1 // hit the gym
this is probably the most common routine for brides-to-be.  hitting the gym not only will help you get in shape for your big day, but it's also a great stress reliever!  catch a dance class and dance your worries away, or, if you're like me, grab some music and hit the spin studio a few times a week and peddle some cares (and calories) away.  whether you want to lose weight or not for your wedding, hitting the gym is never a bad choice!

2 // break out that bridal glow
i'll be saying "i do" at the end of the summer, and hopefully will have time to develop a natural tan (using lots of sunscreen, of course!).  but if you're getting married in a less-than-sunny month, do a little research and find yourself some great self-tanning lotion to build some color.  we know you're all ready glowing from being in love, but it doesn't hurt to have a little tan while you're at it, does it?

3 // take care of that ring...and those hands
while you're being extra careful to take care of that beautiful rock that's on your hand, don't forget to give your hands some tlc as well!  plenty of people will be looking at your hands and you'll probably never have as many photos take of your hands again! (unless you're a hand model...)  you don't need to hit the nail salon to begin getting your nails in shape (though you might want to consider getting regular manicures in the month or two leading up to your wedding), but even making sure you're using lotion regularly and keeping your nails trimmed, filed, and even painted (because life is more fun with painted nails), can get you on your way to wedding-ready nails!

4 // love your locks
take care of your tresses as the big day grows closer by getting regular trims and nourishing your hair.  i always schedule trims for every 8-10 weeks, because by then, i typically have all of the split ends.  so whatever schedule works for you, go for it!  just take care of your hair, ladies, ok?

5 // polish those pearly whites
and last but not least, the most important routine:  polishing your pearly whites!  you'll be flashing your smile so often throughout your engagement.  of course you'll be smiling for photos, but you'll also be smiling every time someone asks you how he proposed and every time someone wants you to show off your ring!  so it's time to get your smile looking it's brightest.

for quick whitening, there's no better toothpaste out there than colgate®'s new express white!  even if your wedding is just around the corner, you can easily get whiter teeth in just three days* with colgate® optic white® express white, just by brushing your teeth.  that's because express white has 2x more of the professionally recommended whitening ingredient** (hydrogen peroxide) than other toothpastes, but is still totally safe to use twice a day.

even though i still have a few months until i say "i do", i've already begun whitening my teeth just by switching to colgate® optic white® express white.  it was such an easy switch and i'm really impressed with the difference after just a few days*!

and colgate® optic white® express white is easy to find at your local wal-mart store on an end cap or in the toothpaste aisle, and with three sizes to choose from (travel size coming soon!), you can find a tube perfect for everything from your bathroom to your gym bag!

no matter how long you're engaged, it's never too early to take care of your teeth, skin, nails, and hair, and overall health in general.  if your nuptials are approaching, consider working these beauty routines into your day-to-day so that you look your best on your big day!

if you're getting married, what are some things you did or are doing to get ready for your wedding?
if you're not getting married, how do you keep your teeth looking their whitest?

*For best results, use as directed for 4 weeks.

  1. These are some great tips :) I don't need them yet though :P
I bet you are so excited!!!

  2. Great tips! I remember before my wedding, it seemed like me wedding prep list got longer and longer and no matter what, I had to keep trying to make sure my beauty routine wasn't getting pushed to the side. So many pictures on that big day! #client
